Food Services
Special Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have suspended the Room Service Menu. Patients are encouraged to order the house offering for their diets. Substitutions will be made available to accommodate tastes.
MVH is committed to meeting the needs of everyone who utilizes the hospital's services and strives to provide quality care as well as comfort and convenience to family members and guests.
As part of that service, we offer a restaurant style menu for patients.
The menu was developed by MVH’s Food Service Department and Clinical Nutrition and Diabetes Department. It gives a plentiful assortment of meal choices. A heart symbol on the menu indicates items that are heart healthy and carbohydrates are listed beside appropriate foods. As a guide for the patient, there is a suggested carbohydrate servings per item when appropriate on the menu.

Patients may order meals at convenient times. If a patient wants lunch early, he or she can order it for delivery at 10:45 am. If they are hungry for a snack, they will be able to request whatever they want, when they want, provided it falls in the physician's prescribed diet. The patient simply calls in the order in advance or for delivery within one hour. A hospital patient may order food from our menu at any time between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The Room Service option gives patients the opportunity to eat what they like most, at the times when they are hungry. Medical experts note that when people have access to foods they prefer, they tend to eat better - and eating well usually has a positive effect on recovery.
For patients who are unable to utilize the written menu or the telephone, a MVH nutrition assistant will visit each patient daily to obtain the patient's meal selection. The nutrition assistant will utilize the patient's physician ordered diet prescription to guide the patient in his/her choices. Diet appropriate alternatives also will be available upon the patient's request. The patient's daily choices are then electronically transmitted to our Clinical Nutrition and Diabetes Department staff for creation.
The Nutrition and Food Service Department wants our patients to be extremely happy with their meals during their stay at Monongahela Valley Hospital.
For assistance with meals, Food and Nutrition Services staff are available during normal business hours. Just call 724-258-4115 and someone will be happy to assist you.
Your family and friends are encouraged to sample other menu selections in our Gift Shop or Cafeteria.
However, if a friend or family member wishes to dine with a patient, guest meals are available and may be purchased for a minimal fee of $5 each.
Bon Appétite!
