The Victory Hill Civic and Social Center's Ladies Auxiliary graciously donated 45 handmade fleece scarves and gloves for cancer patients at Monongahela Valley Hospital's Charles L. and Rose Sweeney Melenyzer Pavilion and Regional Cancer Center. The ladies traditionally create handmade items each year for MVH patients to help provide them with some comfort during the cold winter months. "We are a small group, but we have big ideas and want to help; these are truly a gift from the heart," said Ms. Russell, a retired nurse, who recently cared for a patient receiving treatment at MVH for pancreatic cancer. "We hope they get a measure of warmth and comfort and healing from these. We're so happy to do this."
She added that cancer has impacted each of the auxiliary members' families, so the gift of warmth project is very personal to them.
