Black Diamonds Fundraisers Benefit Hospital Diabetes Program
(December 24, 2014 - Carroll Township, Pa.)
Community programming for Monongahela Valley Hospital's Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology received a boost when a local group, the Black Diamonds, donated $300 from its 2014 fundraisers.
As they have done for eight years, the group uses proceeds from events like bus trips and an annual holiday celebration to assist a community organization, group or individual. Last year, the group donated to MVH's Charles L. and Rose Sweeney Melenyzer Pavilion and Regional Cancer Center.
Black Diamond members who presented the donation to hospital staff are, from left, Adraine Howell, of Monongahela, whose son has diabetes; Karen Perry, of Belle Vernon; and Jennifer Frazier, of Monongahela, who is a diabetic. Accepting the check were MVH's Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology staff Pat Zimmerman, RD, CDE; Kathleen Guy, RD, CDE; and Endocrinologist Alexander Tal, M.D., medical director of the Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology.
"All the charities we support are worthy and we're happy to contribute," said Ms. Frazier.
The Black Diamonds formed in 2007 to empower women, youth and families by supporting educational and professional growth to foster new leadership for tomorrow.
