Survivor Donates Quilts to Help Cancer Patients Afford Supplements
Shown left to right is MVH Clinical Coordinator Carol Manown, three-time cancer survivor Carol Demosky, and Mon-Vale Oncology Supervisor Bonny Holmes.
(November 20, 2014 - Carroll Township, Pa.)
Carol Demosky, 68, of Latrobe, wanted to remember her late nephew who received care at Monongahela Valley Hospital's Charles L. and Rose Sweeney Melenyzer Pavilion and Regional Cancer Center. A three-time cancer survivor herself, she worked for a year making two quilts to help the Regional Cancer Center raise money for its Ensure Program, which supplies cancer patients with vital nutritional drinks that they may not be able to easily afford. The Regional Cancer Center staff will sell tickets for the quilts Dec. 8-19 on the second floor of the Melenyzer building during the annual basket raffle. All proceeds will benefit the Ensure Program. Ms. Demosky (center) is shown with MVH Clinical Coordinator Carol Manown (left) and Mon-Vale Oncology Supervisor Bonny Holmes, holding the 100" x 100" white carpenter's wheel quilt and the 68" x 76" illusions quilt (right). For more information on the fundraiser or the Ensure Program, call Bonny Holmes at 724-292-9404.
