The community is invited to kick off the holiday season at Monongahela Valley Hospital's 30th Annual Light-Up Night on Monday, Nov. 24, at 6:30 p.m. in the hospital’s outdoor Central Plaza.

A Mon Valley community tradition, this colorful, magical evening will feature Frosty the Snowman, free cocoa, and a sing along before two appointed children flip the giant light switch to illuminate the holiday decorations throughout campus.

The Charleroi High School Show Choir will sing carols and entertain the crowd and an ensemble from Charleroi Marching Band will lead Santa's sleigh onto campus.

The Auxiliary of Mon-Vale Health Resources, Inc. will sell baked goods as well as hot dogs and punch.

Guests are encouraged to bring cameras to capture their young ones sitting in Santa's sleigh, visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus and posing by the two-story Christmas tree.

Parking will be free in the hospital's parking garage for those exiting after 7 p.m.

"This family-oriented event is a tradition for patients, visitors, staff, our loved ones and community residents," said Louis J. Panza Jr., president and CEO of MVH. "The giant light switch has been a great addition to the evening, making it even more magical for the kids."
