As a local service project, the Zonta Club of Washington County recently donated sweat suits and stuffed animals to help comfort trauma patients brought to Monongahela Valley Hospital's Emergency Department (ED). From left, Zonta member Suzanne Palko presented the donations to ED Director Kelly Macheska along with Vickie DeMarco, who is also the telecommunications manager at MVH. A grant provided the money for the sweat suits and the club raised money to purchase the fluffy stuffed animals. "Often times, trauma patients need clothes to go home in and we love to have something to comfort small children when they're scared, so we are very grateful to the Zontas," said Ms. Macheska. The 24 members of the Washington County club are a local chapter of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization focused on making a difference in the lives of women.
