Bike Club Donates $1K to Monongahela Valley Hospital Regional Cancer Center

Local bike club The Hot Metal Crew recently donated $1,000 from its 2nd Annual Lady M. Cervical Cancer Benefit Poker Run held this summer to Monongahela Valley Hospital's Charles L. and Rose Sweeney Melenyzer Pavilion and Regional Cancer Center.
More than 100 participated to support Miriam Biris DePasquale of Belle Vernon, aka Lady M., a cervical cancer survivor.
"With such a powerful show of support from our southwest Pennsylvania neighbors, we know that women of our area will never fight alone against cervical cancer," said Ms. DePasquale.
The Hot Metal Crew, with "Lady M." standing in the center, is shown with MVH's Director of Fund Development Melissa Marion. The group's donation will help purchase a new digital mammography machine at the hospital's HealthPlex Imaging site in Rostraver.
The Hot Metal Crew is the local chapter of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club, and members hope to grow the Poker Run event every year "to support a cause so near and dear to our hearts."
The Hot Metal Crew thanked the Mon Valley Community and V.F.W. Posts 1409 Monongahela, 7812 West Newton, 803 Clairton and 6664 South Park for graciously hosting the stops along the poker run route. They also thanked the Pittsburgh area chapter of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club as well as chapters from around the tri-state area, and all the volunteers who helped with the event.
Lady M Cervical Cancer Benefit is open to the public all are welcome to come and support the cause, bikers or not. The date for next summer's 3rd Annual Lady M Benefit will be announced this spring.
