We're all eager to be outdoors soaking up the sunshine but it's also a good time to evaluate how sun exposure has affected our skin. According to the National Cancer Institute, each year, about 1 million Americans develop skin cancer, the most common type of cancer in the United States.
In observance of National Melanoma and Skin Cancer Detection Month, Monongahela Valley Hospital's medical staff will provide free skin cancer screenings Wednesday, May 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Finleyville Community Center at 3547 Marion Ave. in Finleyville.
Registration is required by calling 724-258-1333.
Paul J. Ruschak, M.D., an MVH Dermatologist, will screen for all types of skin cancer. The staff will also provide information on preventing skin cancer and if needed, treatment options.
