Monongahela Valley Hospital Offers Free Skin Cancer Screenings in Finleyville
(May 3, 2013 - Carroll Township, Pa.)
We're all eager to be outdoors soaking up the sunshine but it's also a good time to evaluate how sun exposure has affected our skin. According to the National Cancer Institute, each year, about 1 million Americans develop skin cancer, the most common type of cancer in the United States.
Monongahela Valley Hospital's medical staff will provide free skin cancer screenings Tuesday, May 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Finleyville Community Center at 3547 Marion Ave. in Finleyville.
Registration is required by calling 724-348-6699.
MVH Dermatologist Paul J. Ruschak, M.D., along with staff from MVH’s walk-in health care site Healthy Directions at Giant Eagle, will screen for all types of skin cancer. The staff will also provide information on preventing skin cancer and if needed, treatment options.
May is National Melanoma and Skin Cancer Detection Month.
