Monongahela Valley Hospital Receives 2015 Women's Choice Award® as one of America's Best Hospitals for Orthopedics
(April 30, 2015 - Carroll Township, Pa.)
Monongahela Valley Hospital has been named a recipient of the 2015 Women's Choice Award® as one of America's Best Hospitals for Orthopedics, providing exceptional patient care and treatment.
The Women's Choice Award identifies America's Best Hospitals in Orthopedics in order to address the growing need for bone and joint care as well as disease prevention.
By carrying the Women's Choice Award seal, MVH has joined an elite network of hospitals committed to a global mission to empower women, serving as an example to all hospitals while setting new standards of healthcare excellence for women, their families, and their communities.
"This prestigious award is an evidence-based designation reflecting exceptional clinical performance and women’s preferences. It recognizes that women highly recommend Monongahela Valley Hospital as one of America's Best Hospitals for Orthopedics," said President and CEO Louis J. Panza Jr. "Any woman who sees this award at MVH will know our entire hospital values her experience as a critical component of her and her loved ones' care."
Hospitals qualify as an America's Best Hospital for Orthopedics based on an in-depth proprietary scoring process, utilizing data reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. As one of America's Best Hospitals for Orthopedics Monongahela Valley Hospital was selected due to their excellent rating in areas such as post-treatment complications, patient recommendation ratings, availability of microscopic surgery and adequate post-surgical care.
"Being treated with the proper level of care impacts one's health, well-being, and healing so it is critical for women to know those hospitals that have demonstrated the highest level of quality care to their patients, with a special focus on the female experience," says Sharyn S. Lee, RN, MS, FACEHP, president of the Healthcare Division of the Women's Choice Award. "When patients have a highly engaged, positive experience with their hospital, it's a win-win situation."
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 719,000 total knee replacements and 332,000 total hip replacements were performed in 2010. In 2014, The National Osteoporosis Foundation reported that a woman's risk of hip fracture is equal to her combined risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer (NOF 2014, "What Women Need to Know").
