Renovations, new MRI scanner enhance services at Rostraver Imaging
(April 27, 2016 - Carroll Township, Pa.)
Monongahela Valley Hospital's (MVH) newest outpatient diagnostic imaging site recently underwent expansive renovations to accommodate a new, state-of-the art MRI scanner.
The new facility in the Peasant Village Professional Plaza at 100 Peasant Village Lane is now home to a 1.5 Tesla Siemens Symphony MRI scanner. MVH purchased the facility in October and began renovations Jan. 4 to accommodate the new scanner. Residents of the region can also have Open MRIs, CT Scans, Ultrasound Imaging and X-rays performed there by the caring medical professionals from MVH.
The new, non-claustrophobic Tesla MRI scanner combines state-of-the-art technology with patient comfort to pinpoint problems in the brain, spine, breast, body or extremities by using computers and a magnetic field. It is the same MRI system used at MVH's main hospital campus.
MVH Senior Vice President Thomas C. Cullen said the purchase of the facility, equipment and renovations cost approximately $1.5 million.
"It's an investment in the community and we are pleased we can offer a full range of outpatient imaging services in a convenient, caring atmosphere," said Mr. Cullen.
Louis J. Panza Jr., president and CEO of MVH, added, "Patients will appreciate that they can receive practically any diagnostic imaging test that they need without having to leave the area; and, as an added benefit, the test will be performed by the skilled professionals that they know from Monongahela Valley Hospital."
Rostraver Imaging offers a medical team from MVH which includes radiology technologists and board-certified radiologists. Prescribing physicians will have access to the diagnostic images 24/7. Most physicians can log into MVH's Picture Archiving Communications System to view the images from any computer; and, when several physicians are involved in a patient's care, they can each retrieve the images online simultaneously in real time for diagnosis and to discuss treatment.
Rostraver Imaging was the second MVH outpatient diagnostic imaging site to open in Belle Vernon, as the new facility is located less than a half mile from MVH's HealthPLEX Imaging. HealthPLEX Imaging offers nearly the same range of outpatient services, Mr. Cullen noted.
Rostraver Imaging is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No appointments are needed for X-rays. Most major insurance plans will be accepted. Parking is close to the building and free.
