(April 14, 2015 - Carroll Township, Pa.)
Western Pennsylvanians who have survived yet another dreary winter are so grateful for the bright sunshine, but we need to be careful about our exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays, which can harm our skin.
Monongahela Valley Hospital's new dermatologist Elizabeth Reisinger, D.O., and her staff will provide free skin cancer screenings Saturday, April 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the hospital's SameDay Surgery Center.
Reservations are required by calling 724-258-1333.
Dr. Reisinger will screen for all types of skin cancer. The staff will also provide information on preventing skin cancer and, if needed, treatment options.
According to the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, with more cases diagnosed each year than all other cancers combined. Catching it early is the best chance to treat it effectively.
